Royal Alford Mendenhall, age 73, of Perry, Oklahoma passed away November 1, 2019 at Green Valley Nursing Home, in Perry, Oklahoma.

Viewing of Royal will begin at noon on Monday, November 4th and the family will be there from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm to visit with friends. A celebration of his life will be held 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at Trout Funeral Home of Perry with Brother Brian Friend officiating. Following the celebration, Royal will be laid to rest at Morris Heights Cemetery in Orlando.

Royal was born on June 19, 1946 in Davenport, Oklahoma to Cecil Mendenhall and Katherine (Dougherty) Mason. He grew up in Davenport, OK until he was 16, then moved to Pampa, Tx where he met the love of his life and married Earlene Reger on March 18, 1964 in Clarendon, TX. Royal served his country for almost two years in the Army. After being discharged, he worked as a police officer for Elkhart, KS and Hennessey, OK for a combination of about ten years. After retirement, he worked as a security guard for Haskeleman construction for about six years.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Earlene; sons: David and wife Susan Mendenhall, Roy Earl and wife Stephanie Mendenhall; grandchildren: Bree Ann and husband Jace Vaughan, Kaleb and wife Kylee Mendenhall, Kolby Mendenhall, James Nathan and wife Cayla Chiasson, Marylin and husband Danny Rogers, Mary Mendenhall, Matthew Mendenhall, Grace Mendenhall, Alex Meier, Aubrey Mendenhall, Sierra Mendenhall and Jonathan Meier; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Roger Mendenhall, Randy and wife Connie Mendenhall, Kathy and husband Rusty Ewy, Derek and wife Rhonda Mason, Karen Mason and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; Cecil Mendenhall, step-father Howard Mason, Katherine Mason; daughter Eveyln Jean Shay; brother Rick Mendenhall; in-laws: Earl and wife Eveyln Reger, Linda Miller, Wilburn Reger and nephew Ricky Mendenhall.

Casketbearers will be Jace Vaughan, James Nathan Chiasson, Tommy Parks, Kaleb Mendenhall, Kolby Mendenhall and Karl Parks. Honorary casketbearers will be Roy Earl Mendenhall, David Wayne Mendenhall and Rusty Shay.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association in care of Trout Funeral Home of Perry, 1408 N. 7th St., Perry, Oklahoma 73077
