1915 - 2002
PAMPA - Opal J. McCathern, 87, died Friday, April 12, 2002.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Ohsfeldt, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Mrs. McCathern was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Hollis, Okla. She married Rufus Levi McCathern on Dec. 22, 1934, in Erick, Okla.

Survivors include two daughters, Velda Jo Huddleston of Pampa and Velma Joyce Rhoades of Burleson; four sons, Bennett McCathern of Houston, Glenn McCathern of Amarillo and Neal McCathern and Derrell McCathern, both of Fort Worth; two brothers, Dick Anderson of Shamrock and W.S. Anderson of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to Grace Baptist Church, 824 S. Barnes, Pampa, TX 79065.
