Valencia Ilene Chunn

Born: March 29, 1964
Died: February 04, 2010

Valencia Ilene Berry was born on Easter Sunday morning, March 29, 1964 to LaVonta Katrina Berry and James Robinson.

The youngest of six children, she was "baby sister" to three older sisters, Valorie, Eugenia, and Fatine and two older brothers Keith and Kirk. "Lenti" never let being the baby stand in her way, she walked at nine months, rode a "big bicycle" without training wheels at four years old, and that was only the beginning.

Valencia accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior as a young girl at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Guthrie, OK under the ministry of Reverend Harold Coleman. She never grew tired of serving the Lord, continuing her service as an adult at True Vine Independent Baptist Church in Spencer, OK under the ministry of Reverend H.A. Walker and F.L. Wilson.

Valencia attended Guthrie Public Schools and graduated from Guthrie High School in 1982. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business from Southern Nazarene University in 2002.

On June 15, 1985 she exchanged wedding vows with her soul mate Michael W. Chunn. She was a dedicated and submissive wife.

On April 5, 1989 God blessed the Chunns with a beautiful baby girl, Brittany Nicole Chunn. Valencia prided herself in being a loving and attentive mother, and instilled in her daughter her strong faith and commitment to God.

Valencia was dedicated to serving the church and her community; she worked timelessly as PTA president, Sunday school secretary, and mentor to the pom squad at Midwest City High School. She loved young people and opened her home and heart as often as possible. She loved flowers and it showed all around the home.

On Thursday, February 4, 2010 our loved one was called home by the Heavenly Father. She leaves to celebrate her life her husband Michael Wayne Chunn and daughter Brittany Nicole Chunn of Carrollton, VA, mother LaVonta K. Harge of Guthrie, two brothers Keith Berry and wife Verna of Moore, OK and Kirk Berry of Guthrie, and two sisters Valorie Gray and husband Howard of Los Angeles, CA and Fatina Hogan and husband Ted of Oklahoma City, OK. She also leaves to cherish her memory one step-daughter Katrina Chunn and three grandchildren Jasmine, Erin, and Jayma, and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. One sister preceded her in death, Eugenia Marie Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Guthrie with Dr. Vernon L. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
