Josephine Francis (Mize) Ray, age 84, of Guthrie, went home to be with our God Almighty on September 14th, 2017. Josephine was born in Donna, Texas on April 4th, 1933 to Riley and Alice Mize.

 

She was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; often seen feeding any number of the friends her four children or husband brought home, also reading the Bible to her grandchildren or sitting in the front room crocheting. The achievements of her life, she raised four boys the best she could. She had a full time job as a paralegal, made every grandchild a crocheted blanket, and gave her grandchildren and great-grandchildren everything she could.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Alice; her husband Avid Carl Ray, Sr. and her second oldest son, Charles Allen Ray; her brothers, Flint Mize, J.D. Mize, Jack Mize and Lee Mize; and her sister Beatrice.

She is survived by her eldest son, Avid Carl Ray, Jr. and wife Cindy of Oklahoma City, OK along with three children, Timothy George Ray, wife Tiffany, and three children, Braxton, Brice, and Brock; Tracey and her three children, Ethan, Cassie and Myshae of Guthrie; Carla and her son, Franky; her son James Edwards Ray ; Josephine's grandsons, Chris Ray and Jeremy Nealy Ray; Charles's sons Cory Ray; daughter, Chelsy Abigail Ray; Nathan and his three children, Nate, Lindsey, and Matthew. She is also survived by Bobby and Rhonda Ray of the home with their two daughters, Nikki and Alexander Pendley and their child, Daniel Kayleb Lee and Pendley Ray; Leslie with her daughter, Emberlyn Rose Dawn (Ray) Shea; her brother, Ted and his wife Kathy of Arizona; elder sister, Winfred and younger sister, Rosalee and husband, James of Maud, Oklahoma. Josephine is also survived by a slew of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Josephine also had several adopted grandchildren, Heather Bernal and her boyfriend, Jace Lemons of Perkins and their soon due son, Samuel; Julia Lopez and her boyfriend, Dayton of Stillwater, Oklahoma; Amanda Orner and her boyfriend, Josh Starks and their daughter, Alexa Starks of Meridian, Oklahoma and Austin Shea of Guthrie.

 

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 18, 2017 at McKinley Cemetery in Meridian. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Visitation will be held Sunday, 2:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M.
