Matthew Exile Nelson

Born: April 29, 1922
Died: December 01, 2008

Matthew Nelson passed away peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by family. He passed away after a brief illness on Monday morning, December 1, 2008 at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his parents E.H. and Mary Nelson, one grandson Matthew McKinney, age 26, one great-grandson Stephan "Chief" Parks, age 9, and several loved ones, coming from a large family.

He leaves behind his wife Orthia Maie, four daughters Debi Nelson and her son Josh, Mary Young and husband Gary of Arkansas, Donna McKinney and husband Robert of Cushing, OK, and Joanna Scantlin and husband Gary of Edmond, OK, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Mac was loved by all who knew him as he was a very kind and outgoing man.

He served his country in WWII proudly and felt honored to have done so. He will be missed by all.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Robby Robbins officiating. Burial will follow at Lawrie Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Condolences may be emailed to smith-gallo@sbcglobal.net
