September 14, 1926 - December 28, 2015


Lynvol Levi "Lyn" Moffitt, age 89 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away December 28, 2015 at his home in Guthrie. He was born September 14, 1926 in Fallis, Oklahoma to Robert D. and Gladys (French) Moffitt.

Lyn lived in Guthrie most of his life and was a member of the Noble Avenue Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Lyn started working at the age of 14 at the Cimarron Theater as a projectionist and later worked for the Melba Theater and Beacon Drive-in. He was also self employed and did paint and body work. Lyn enjoyed music, playing guitar with the Guthrie Gospel Group and singing in nursing homes.

Lyn married Lottie F. Creamer on February 7, 1947 in Frankfort, Germany. She passed away on February 9, 2013. He then married Nettie Clark on October 15, 2013 in Guthrie.

Survivors include his wife Nettie, 3 children, Edna Fulkersin and husband Tracy of Dover, Donna K. Hurst and husband Billy of Guthrie and Mary Stout and husband Gary of Guthrie; sisters and brother, Erma Penrod and husband Hubert, Jean Majors and husband Charles, Robert Bob Moffitt and Patricia Kirk and husband Ernie all of Guthrie. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way and a niece Joyce Chennault of Guthrie. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lottie, son John L. Moffitt, grandson Michael Moffitt, nephew Neal Johnson, 1 brother and 1 sister.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Lawrie Cemetery with Chaplain Gene Owen of Companion Hospice and Pastor James Porterfield of Noble Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

The family would like to thank granddaughter Melanie Moffitt for her special care.
