Virginia Lee Meek
July 21, 1939 - October 18, 2015


Virginia Lee Meek, age 76, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away October 18, 2015 in Oklahoma City. She was born on July 21, 1939 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Fred and Susie (Shaw) Johnston.

Virginia graduated from Webster High School in Tulsa in 1957. She married Daniel Leon Meek on April 1, 1956 in Tulsa, he passed away on July 2, 1994. She later met Bill Martin and he passed away in June of 2009. Virginia lived in Guthrie most of her life and had lived in Oklahoma City since 2010. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She retired from Guthrie Public Schools in 1998. She enjoyed her grandkids, going to the lake, family reunions, camping, fishing and quilting.

Survivors include her children, daughter Lavonda Coffman and husband Bobby of Guthrie, sons, Dannie Meek and wife Rhonda of Orlando, Dana Meek and wife Dina of Mahomet, IL and Gene "Jake" Raines and wife Rhonda of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by 2 sisters, Paulette Johnson of Oklahoma City and Bethie Rose Bross of Guthrie, 12 grandchildren, Shaun, Heather, Sara, Ali Sue, Rocky, Courtney, Shaun, Kylie, Kenton, Griffin, Zoe and Chongo, 11 great grandchildren and special friend and caretaker B.J. Coley. She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother Druscilla Johnston, husband Daniel, special friend Bill, son Kenneth, and sister Orthia Mae Nelson.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Noble Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Earnie Owen of Broken Arrow and Pastor William Auten of Church of God of Prophecy, Guthrie officiating. The casket will not be open after the service. Interment will follow at Lawrie Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM and Friday from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
