Dr. Lloyd Donald Gooch age 70, of Enid was born April 13, 1933 to Carl Hubert and Margie Glee Morrisett Gooch and died November 4, 2003 peacefully in his sleep after a courageous battle with Leukemia. He was the youngest of three children growing up near Guthrie, Oklahoma in the Abell farming community. He was a 1955 graduate of Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Animal Husbandry where he was a member of the Farmhouse Fraternity and the OSU Livestock Judging Team. He continued with his education in 1957 by graduating from the University of Wisconsin with a Masters degree in Animal Genetics. After serving in the Army he graduated from Oklahoma University's Medical School in 1963. He arrived in Enid, Oklahoma, with wife Corinne, in 1967 specializing in Internal Medicine. They had three children, Donald, Clayburn and Allison. Dr. Gooch was a member of the First Baptist Church of Enid and enjoyed raising Charolais cattle.
He is survived by one brother, Robert and his wife Hester Gooch of Guthrie, a sister, Carol Nelson of Guthrie. Aunts, Wilma Speaks and Fern Acton both of Crescent. Son, Donald and his wife Dana Gooch of Edmond and their children Scarlett and Georgia, one daughter, Allison and her husband Curt Roggow of Enid and their children Garrett, Camden and Brighton of Enid.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, son, Clayburn Gooch and grandson, William Gooch.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Enid, with Rev. Keith Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrie Cemetery north of Guthrie under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Thursday, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Hematology Resident Education Foundation with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home P.O.Box 3501 Enid,OK 73702 serving as custodians of the fund.
