Merle Dean Wright, age 80 of Cushing, passed away on February 11, 2015 in Cushing, Ok. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at New Hope Fellowship Church, Cushing, Ok. Pastor Steve Orton will officiate. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Crescent Cemetery, Crescent, Oklahoma.

Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.

Merle was born on August 18, 1934 in Crescent, Ok to the late Dee and Eula (Frazier) Wright. He grew up and attended school in Crescent. After high school, he became an electrician. Merle worked for the City of Crescent then moved to Cushing in 1980 where he began working for the City of Cushing, retiring in 2005. Merle married the love of his life Betty Kyle on December 30, 1983 in Edmond, Oklahoma at his sister’s home. He loved fishing, gospel music and gardening, especially his roses. He was a member of New Hope Fellowship Church.

He is survived by his wife Betty of the home, son Steve Estell and wife Lisa of California, daughters Linda Ott of Cushing, Renee Estell and Bobby Russell of Cushing, sister Juanita Stewart and husband Wayne of Edmond, grandchildren Crystal Lahmeyer and Matt, Joanna Mills, great grandchildren Jewelia, Claudia, Olivia and Victoria Lahmeyer, Corbin Mills, nephew David Stewart and wife Lisa, great nephews Nathan and Scotty Stewart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Allen Estell.
