Jessie M. Shore
(July 6, 1917 - November 6, 2010)

Jessie Shore passed into eternal rest on November 6, 2010 . She was 93 .

Jessie was born to Fred and Loula Trapnell on July 6, 1917 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. She moved to Crescent as a young woman and remained a lifelong resident.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Virgil, two brothers, Louis and Freddy, and two sisters, Helen Adkins and Louise Bailey.

Jessie is survived by her daughter, Linda Nickels and husband Bobby, of Blanchard Oklahoma, her son, Robert Holliday and wife Debbie, of South Padre Island, Texas; step children LoAnn Holliday of Edmond, Oklahoma, Virgene Fricken & husband Roland of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Sam Shore & wife Kathy, of Lampasas, Texas, Harold Shore and wife Arlene, of Enid, Oklahoma, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jessie enjoyed a long career with Pioneer Telephone, beginning in 1941, until her retirement in 1982. She watched the changes in technology from early “number please” switchboards through their evolution to digital communications. She loved her work and interacting with all people in the community.

She married the love of her life, Virgil Shore, in May, 1983. They shared a remarkable and inspiring love with each other until his death in November 1991.

She was past president of the VFW Auxiliary, past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, and an active member of the Alpha Study Club. Blessed with a beautiful voice, she was always in demand for solos at weddings, funerals, and community events. She was a member of the Melodears, one of Crescent’s best remembered vocal music groups, and of the Methodist Church choir where she was often featured as a soloist. She was a friend to many and gave generously of herself whenever there was a need.

She was a continuous source of faith, optimism, and encouragement to all who knew her. She could find good in any situation, or in any individual. Her faith and positive philosophy became the bedrock for all of her family. It will remain her most enduring legacy.

Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Crescent, November 9th at 2:00 PM.
