Kelly Dean Morrisett was born September 13th, 1940 on the farm in Crescent, Oklahoma and passed peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City during the morning hours of November 14th, 2019, at the age of 79. His wife of 57 years, Linda, was at his side at the time of his passing. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas Andrew Morrisett and Maggie "Rose" Morrisett, and his brothers, Larry Morrisett and Johnny Morrisett.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Linda Morrisett of Crescent, his sons, Mike Morrisett and his wife Tana of Edmond, Andrew Morrisett of Guthrie, his grandchildren, Ryan Morrisett and his wife, Breanna of Oklahoma City, Amber Smith and her husband, Sam of Oklahoma City, and his great grandchildren, James Morrisett and Kaden Morrisett.

Kelly was born on the family farm in Crescent on September 13th, 1940. As a child, his family moved to the current farm where he lived until his passing. Kelly was used to hard work. Besides farming they also ran a dairy. In the summer after Kelly graduated high school, his father died in a tragic tractor accident. Although he went to college for a year at Eastern Oklahoma A & M on a football scholarship, his aunt convinced him and his older brother to come back from school and help his mom run the family farm and dairy, which they did. He was very fond of his mother and stayed in constant contact with her until her passing in 1998.

The summer after returning back to the farm, Kelly was introduced to Linda through his best friend, Bob Robertson and his new fiancé , Carolyn, which was Linda's best friend. Bob and Carolyn set them up on a blind date and a year later, Kelly and Linda were married. They had been married 57 years at the time of his passing and were still living in the same house they had built on the farm 54 years ago.

Kelly had strong traditional values and a strong work ethic. After eventually losing the dairy, he continued farming, then began a heavy equipment company. Unfortunately, the oil bust of the early 80's wasn’t kind and he lost most everything. However, he never gave up. He believed that it was his responsibility to take care of his family and he did. He continued to run heavy equipment and driving a truck until he simply wasn't able to anymore. During the last years of his life, his greatest enjoyment next to being around his family, was being able to get out and mow the lawn. His sense of pride at being able to continue to take care of his family in even this small way was very important to him.

Kelly was liked by everyone. People liked to describe him as a gentle giant. Although he was usually a man of few words, he never met a stranger. Everyone was welcome in his home. He was the first to help if someone needed it and he was always generous with what little he had. He has been described as sweet, kind, gentle, genuine and big hearted. However, most of all, everyone that knew him knew how much he loved his family. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great source of pride. His greatest joy was getting to spend time with them. During the last few years when he was unable to get out of the house much, he loved talking on the phone to his family and receiving photos and videos of his great grandchildren.

Kelly was a Christian man that always lived a life of example for others to follow. His humble and quiet nature combined with his kind spirit is something that will always be remembered. Kelly left behind a legacy of love and devotion and will be sorely missed by all.

Services will be held at the First Christian Church in Crescent, Oklahoma, at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 18th, 2019. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in the Crescent Cemetery.
