Gaye Frances Johnson

Gaye Frances (Richards) Johnson was born on August 5, 1934 in Crescent, Oklahoma to Frank and Ruth (Havenstrite) Richards and passed away on October 13, 2015 at her home in Crescent, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years.

Gaye was born and raised in Crescent and attended Crescent Schools. She started working at Cimarron Seed Company while in high school. She married Arthur Johnson on January 17, 1952 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She retired from the Crescent CO-OP in 1994, the same year Arthur retired. They were inseparable. Gaye loved all sports and was an avid OU fan. She loved watching her grandkids and great grandkids play sports. She never had a problem voicing her opinion to a referee/umpire when a bad call was made. She was known for her cooking and Sunday dinners.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur of the home; three sons, David Johnson and wife Sherry of Guthrie, Jay Johnson and wife Tamara of Crescent, and Jeff Johnson also of Crescent; one sister, Jeanne Stewart; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ralph, Virgil, and Jim Richards and by two sisters, Mary Ransford and Joy Hamburger.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 16, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Crescent with Rev. Steve Black officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent..
