Arthur Lee Johnson

Arthur Lee Johnson, Jr. was born August 25, 1932 in Concho, Oklahoma to Arthur Lee and Ida Mae (Curley) Johnson. He passed away on February 27, 2019 in Guthrie, Oklahoma at the age of 86 years.

Arthur graduated from Crescent High School and worked at Cimarron Seed Company. He married Gaye Richards on January 17, 1952 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He retired from Conoco, Inc. in 1994, the same year Gaye retired. They were inseparable.

Arthur was known by Sonny to his family. He was involved in FFA, The Quarterback Club, and coached Little League Baseball for many years. He loved watching his boys, grandkids, and great grandkids play sports. Art and Gaye enjoyed traveling with friends. He is now reunited with the love of his life.

Survivors include, three sons, David Johnson and wife Sherry of Guthrie, Jay Johnson and wife Tamara of Crescent, and Jeff Johnson also of Crescent; two brothers, Butch Johnson and Buddy Johnson both of Crescent; one sister, Jackie Ann McBroom of Tecumseh, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Gaye, sister, Dollie Cummings, and brother, Jimmey Johnson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 4, 2019 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
