Donald Eugene Hicks lifetime resident of Crescent passed from his life February 25, 2022 at the age of 77 years. He was the son of the late Earl and Mary Jane Hicks of Crescent. He was born February 14, 1945 in Crescent. He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Troyer on November 6, 1970 in Crescent, two children were born, Bradley Eugene Hicks and Mary Dawn Hicks. He served 3 years in the United States Army with a tour during the Vietnam War. Upon his return he worked in the oil field for a few years until he went to work foe Tinker Air Force Base. He went on to retire after 27 years.

Donnie loved being with family, he enjoyed his 20 plus years as Scoutmaster of Troop 862 in Crescent. He guided several boys on their path to Eagle ranks. He loved camping, fishing, and most of all the end of the week fish fry’s at Slippery Falls Scout Ranch.

Donnie is survived by his son, Bradley and wife Angela Hicks of Guthrie; grandchildren, Nick and Abby; great grandson, Hunter; long time companion, Betty Yocham of Crescent; sister, Erline Moore and brother, Stanley. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Lou, daughter, Mary Dawn, and sisters Pearl Welch and Louise Brooks.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, 10:00 A.M. March 2, 2022 at Crosspointe Church in Crescent with Pastor Mark LeMarr officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery.

Donnie was a supporter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and any donations can be made in Mary Dawn Hicks name.

Mary Lou (Troyer) Hicks Obit

Funeral services for Mary Lou Hicks, 48, of Crescent, Okla., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001 at the Crescent Assembly of God Church with Pastor Mark LeMarr officiating. Interment was in Crescent Cemetery under the direction of Abernathy Funeral Home of Crescent.

Mary Lou was born June 27, 1952 in Kingfisher, Okla., to Junior Troyer and Betty Anderson Troyer. She died Feb. 16, 2001 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

She married Donald Hicks on Nov. 6, 1970 in Crescent. She was a lifelong resident of Crescent.

She was an ACC Clerk for Mercy Hospital and was a member of the Crescent Assembly of God, VFW Women's Auxiliary, member of the Boy Scouts and a member of the Rainbow for Girls.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Hicks, of the home; her mother, Betty Troyer of Crescent; one son, Bradley Hicks and wife Angela of Guthrie; four sisters, Vickie Barnett, Pamela Milligan, Betty Kay Sabolovich and Sheri Winegeart, all of Crescent; one grandson, Nicholas Huerta-Hicks of Guthrie; one nephew; two nieces; one great-nephew and one great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her father and by a daughter, Mary Dawn Hicks on Nov 23, 1986.
