Fern Vee Acton
(February 2, 1911 - January 18, 2012)

Fernie Vee “Fern” Acton was born February 2, 1911 in Crescent, Oklahoma to Sam and Vennie (Kelly) Morrisett. She passed away January 18, 2012 in Guthrie, Oklahoma at the age of 100 years, 11 months, and 16 days.

Fern was born and raised in Crescent and attended Crescent High School, graduating in 1929. After graduation she married C.M. Acton in 1929 in Crescent. She attended college in Guthrie and Central State University earning her teaching certificate. Fern taught school for many years. Several years later C.M. and Fern owned and operated Logan County Livestock Auction for many years. She also worked at Crescent Floral and later in life became a Real Estate Broker until her retirement in the late 80’s. Fern was a member of the Eastern Star where she was a Worth Grand Matron and District Deputy. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Her hobbies include playing bridge and working.

Survivors include her son, Max Acton and wife Bernice of Crescent; sister, Wilma Speaks of Guthrie; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband C.M., one brother, Andrew Morrisett, and two sisters, Gracie McCleery and Margie Gooch.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Crescent with Pastor Keith Gordon officiating. Burial will follow in the Crescent Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home in Crescent.
