Viaretta Hardison was born in Alex, Oklahoma on August 16, 1931, the daughter of John and Cordelia Meyers. She would become the sixth of eight children in the household. Times were not easy, especially so because of her father's use of alcohol. One day as her father was in the kitchen with a jar of home brew in his hands, he heard a voice say to him, "Whatcha going to do about these kids?" He chose to answer, "I'm going to give them to You." And he did.
He took them to church for Saturday night service. There, John gave his life to Jesus. He experienced such transformation he wanted to tell others, so he opened a church in an old schoolhouse. It was there that Viaretta fell in love with Jesus.
The family took her to several cities and states where her father was a pastor. At age sixteen, Viaretta was invited to preach a two-week revival at a nearby church. She said, "I didn't even know there were fourteen sermons in the Bible." Years passed and at age twenty-three she married Cleo Johnson and they pastored churches at Coyle and Meeker. In the late 1980s they retired in Edmond. After forty-six years of fruitful ministry the Lord took Cleo Johnson to Heaven. In time, God brought Viaretta and Charlie Hardison together and they had nine joyful years together before he died.
Viaretta wrote a book "His Plan" telling about Jesus, the One with whom she fell in love as a young girl. She would rejoice in you joining her by giving your life to the One who loves you and that you will come to know Jesus in a more personal way, and that you too will find His Plan for your life.
