Melvin George Haas was born September 20, 1928 in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Carmi and Clara (Peterman) Haas. He passed away January 18, 2021 in Oklahoma City at the age of 92.

Melvin grew up in Wellston graduating in 1946. He worked at Haliburton and drove a truck for Cains. After he retired, he enjoyed traveling in his RV with his wife, Nina and the traveling TP’s. They went to Alaska, Colorado, Texas, and many places in between.

Melvin enjoyed Nascar, always cheering for Kyle Busch. He always had a cute, fun joke to share with anyone he met. He enjoyed playing Mexican Train Dominos, card games and his dirty board game. Melvin was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Edmond.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Carmi and Clara Haas; and son, Thomas Haas. Survivors include his wife, Nina Haas of the home; son, Don Haas and wife Debbie of Edmond; grandchildren, Michelle Preston and husband Steve of Edmond, Erica Clay and husband Kevin of Moore, Cathleen Haas of Duncan, Rachel Ward and husband Jeff of Edmond, Matt Smith and wife Mindy of Newalla; 13 great-grandchildren; along with other family and friends.

A graveside funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at the Wellston Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
