Thomas Earl "Tom" Earp

earp-t-e

February 16, 1951 - December 15, 2025

Tom was born on February 16, 1951, in Meeker, Oklahoma, where he was raised and later graduated from Meeker High School in 1969. He continued his education at East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma, earning a bachelor's degree.

On January 17, 1974, Tom married Janette Sue Hull in Meeker, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned over 50 years. Tom was deeply proud and devoted to his family. Janette was truly the love of his life. He often shared storied of their "hippie days" when they both wore long hair. He cherished his time fishing with Greg and loved showing off pictures of Ben with his catches. Tom was also incredibly proud of his "little girl," Lindsey" he bragged about her good grades, her talent in band, and her graduation from Sam Houston. Tom always had a big smile when he talked about his family!

Tom built a successful career as a property accountant, working for several respected companies including Transco, City Service, Williams, and IBM. At work Tom liked to put on a gruff and tough exterior. At first, his coworkers were a little intimidated, but it didn't take long to realize he was really a softie at heart. (Although they tried not to let him know they figured that out!) Tom worked hard, but he also made work fun. His sense of humor and playful teasing kept his coworkers laughing, and he had a knack for giving them a hard time, in the best way. Over time, they learned that behind the jokes, Tom had a great insight into what was happening at work, he was usually right, even if it took them a while to admit it. Tom is remembered not only for his dedication and humor, but for the kindness and wisdom he shared with those around him.

Tom was a member of Meeker First Christian Church. Outside of his professional life, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He was also naturally gifted in music, with an extraordinary ability to pick up nearly any instrument and play it with ease, an ability that brought joy to those around him.

Tom is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Janette Sue (Hull) Earp; son, Greg Earp; daughter, Lindsey Earp; and a grandson, Benjamin Earp; as well as a host of dear friends.
