Rowena (Barrett) Parker, a lifelong resident of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2026, in Prague. She was 71 years old.
Rowena was born on February 5, 1955, in Prague, Oklahoma, the daughter of Wayne and Doris (Jones) Barrett. She grew up in Prague and attended Prague Public Schools, graduating with the Prague High School Class of 1973. During her high school years, Rowena was honored as Football Homecoming Queen, a special memory from a place and community that would remain home throughout her life.
On February 13, 1982, Rowena married John Wesley Parker. Together, they made their home in Prague and shared more than 44 years of marriage. Rowena and John enjoyed riding motorcycles together, traveling the open road and seeing the country from the back of a bike. Their adventures created many treasured memories, but no matter how much she enjoyed a trip, Rowena was always happy to return home. She truly loved the comfort and familiarity of her home and the life they built together.
Lake Tenkiller was another favorite destination for Rowena. She looked forward to weekends and trips to the lake, enjoying the time away and the company of those she loved. She also enjoyed going out to eat and was especially fond of shrimp.
Throughout her life, Rowena found fulfillment in caring for others. She enjoyed her time working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role that suited her caring nature and gave her the opportunity to help those around her.
Above all else, Rowena's greatest joy was her family. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her grandchildren. Whether at home, around the table, at the lake, or simply enjoying time together, the moments she shared with them were among the greatest treasures of her life.
Rowena was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Doris Barrett; and two nieces, Sherri Rene Barrett and Kristi Marie Barrett.
Those left to cherish Rowena's memory include her husband, John Wesley Parker; two daughters, Summer Ackerman and her husband, Rodney, and Chelsea Lechner; five grandchildren, Rylie Lechner, Ember Lechner, Madison Ackerman, Kendall Ackerman and Bailey Ackerman; her brother, Gary Barrett and his wife, Lupe; and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
