Madge Melbadine Bowman, a longtime resident of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, in Yukon, Oklahoma, at the age of 98. During the last twelve years of her life, she made her home in Yukon to be closer to her family.
Madge was born on September 13, 1927, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to Frank Wesley and Susan Elizabeth (McCauley) Coulter. She was raised in the Prague area and graduated from Centerview High School, where she formed the values of hard work, faith, and devotion to family that would guide her throughout her life.
On June 14, 1948, she married the love of her life, Troy Lee Bowman. Together they built a loving home in Prague, where they raised their two sons, Lloyd Gene and Roy Lee. They shared nearly fifty years of marriage before Troy's passing on February 6, 1998.
Madge was a faithful and devoted member of Arlington United Methodist Church, where she worshiped for many years and found strength in her faith. She worked as a seamstress for Blue Bell, first at the Seminole plant and later in Prague, where she helped sew Wrangler jeans. While she took great pride in her work, Madge believed her most important calling was caring for her family. She was a dedicated wife and mother who worked tirelessly to provide for her two boys and create a loving home for those she cherished.
She found joy in life's simple blessings. Madge loved tending her garden, canning the fruits of her labor, and keeping a welcoming home. Her quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, and steadfast love for her family left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Troy Lee Bowman; her son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd Gene and Judi Bowman; her brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Agnes Coulter; and her sister, Barbara Iverson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Roy Lee Bowman and wife, Vivian; her grandsons, Stephen Bowman and wife, Mallory, and Joshua Bowman and wife, Erin; her great-grandchildren, Kit Bowman and Lee Bowman; her brother, Elmer Coulter and wife, Sandy; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.
