Joe Stasyszen, a long-time resident of Chandler, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Friday, July 25, 2025, in Oklahoma City at the age of 71. He was born Joseph Henry Stasyszen on December 26, 1953, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to William Edward Stasyszen and Gloria Elizabeth (Junk) Stasyszen. He was a 1972 graduate of Tecumseh High School and attended college at Seminole and St. Gregory's in Shawnee. He married Marla Files on September 6, 1975, and together they had one son, Dusty.
He retired from BancFirst Chandler on February 1, 2025, after 46 years in the banking industry. He was a member of several civic groups in Chandler, serving as both President and Vice President. He volunteered with numerous events and projects within the Chandler community and received the Volunteer of the Year award from the Chandler Chamber of Commerce in 2018.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, OSU sports and spending as much time as possible at their lake house on Lake Eufaula. He was well known for his homemade apple pies and Dutch oven cooking. He never met a stranger and was always prepared with a story or joke.
He was preceded in death by his parents and oldest brother, Pete. He is survived by his wife Marla, of the home, his son Dusty, of Chandler, his brothers Bill (Jonna) of Shelbyville, KY, Rick (Monica) of Norman, OK and Abbot Lawrence of Shawnee, OK as well as sister-in-law, Jeannita Alverson of Shawnee, OK and brother-in-law, Robert (Bubba) Files of Eufaula, OK. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends, including long-time family friends, the Melsons, all of whom Joe loved dearly.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Chandler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler with Abbot Lawrence Stasyszen officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Meeker, OK.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to St. Gregory's Abbey in Shawnee, OK , (405) 878-5296.
