James Donnel Robbins

James Donnel Robbins, 94, long-time resident of Chandler, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2025.

James was born on April 4, 1931, in Sherman, Texas, to Joe and Pearl (Dobkins) Robbins. He attended school in Texas and, soon after, proudly enlisted in the United States Army, where he faithfully served his country for several years.

I

n 1952, James married Janet Johnson, and together they built a loving home and life. In 1979, they made Chandler their home.

James worked as a security guard for the Federal Reserve Bank in Oklahoma City, where he dedicated 25 years before retiring.

James found great joy in farming, raising cattle, growing vegetables, and tending to his beloved rose garden. He also enjoyed woodworking, welding, and playing golf. A man of faith, he was a long-time member of the Church of Christ in Chandler and, more recently, enjoyed watching Life Church online. James was also a proud member of the American Legion.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Pearl Robbins; and siblings, Gurtie Basey, Tommy Robbins, Louise Cowden, and Roger Robbins.

James is survived by his wife of 73 years, Janet Robbins; daughters, Brenda Bernhardt, and Jamie Herring and her husband, Ray; grandchildren, Christopher Herring, Jessica (Herring) Byres, Cole Bernhardt, and Kate (Bernhardt) Hamstra; great-grandchildren, Emersyn Herring, Willow Hamstra, Oliver Hamstra, and James Bernhardt; a sister, Marie Stewart; as well as a host of extended family members and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Chandler Senior Citizen's Center in honor of James..
