Dr. James "Elton" Dickson

Dr. James "Elton" Dickson of Chandler, Oklahoma, passed away on December 5, 2025, at the age of 93. Elton was born on September 9, 1932, in Chandler to Dr. R. E. Dickson and Lou Berta Dickson. He graduated from Chandler High School and proudly served in the Army National Guard during the Korean War from 1949 - 1952 as part of the 45th Division Field Artillery Unit. He received a Korean Service Medal, Bronze Star, and United Nations Service Medal.

Following his military service, Elton completed his studies at Oklahoma A&M and continued on to dental school in Kansas City, earning his Doctorate in Dentistry from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Dentistry. While in Kansas City, he met the love of his life, Doris Rush. They married and returned to Chandler to raise their family, where Elton joined his father in practicing dentistry. Elton and Doris shared 65 wonderful years of marriage.

Elton took great pride in his family, his military service, and his lifelong dedication to the Chandler community. He was a devoted member of the Central Church of Christ and considered it a privilege to provide dental care to generations of local families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. R. E. and Lou Berta Dickson; his sister, Phyllis Ann Curtis; his brother, Dr. John Dickson, and son-in-law Bob Perry.

Elton is survived by his wife, Doris Dickson; his daughter, Louise Perry of Shawnee; and his son, Dr. Jerry Dickson, and daughter-in-law, Kathie Dickson, of Chandler. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lindsey Borcherding of Shawnee, Jason Perry of Oklahoma City, Jared Dickson of Edmond, Katelynn Collins of Oklahoma City, and Landon Dickson of Chandler; as well as his great-grandchildren: Jacob Borcherding, Jameson Perry, Silas Perry, Paislee Dickson, Roman Dickson, and Hudson Dickson.

A service to honor his life is scheduled for 10am Friday, December 12, 2025, in the Chapel at Parks Brother's Funeral Home in Chandler, Ok.
