Jack Alton Cheatwood

Jack Alton Cheatwood, age 68, of Bristow, Oklahoma, passed away on January 6, 2026. He was born on June 4, 1957, in Okemah, Oklahoma, to Horace Alton and Georgie Fern (Powell) Cheatwood.

Jack grew up in and around Tuskegee, Oklahoma, and attended Slick Public Schools. He later enlisted in the Army National Guard. Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. As a young man, he was a bull rider. He worked in welding, on oil rigs, truck driving, and spent most of his career as a heavy equipment operator.

In the early 1980s, Jack began a long relationship with Carla Jo Waldrep. They were married on April 11, 1990, and together raised three children, Justin, Chesley, and Christina. Carla preceded him in death on June 30, 2008.

Jack was also preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Leta Cheatwood; and his nephew, Shane Fisher.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Justin Waldrep (Andrea Baker), Chesley Cheatwood (Kayla Witt), and Christina McGuire (Bobby McGuire); six grandchildren; one great-grandson; his brother, Ted Cheatwood (Pat); his sisters, Barbara Messer (Gene), Shirley Skaggs (Don), Beverly Timperley (Richard), Jessie Lenz, Brenda Cheatwood, Angela Winn (Don), and Tina Bass (Dink); and many other family members and friends.

Jack was laid to rest beside his wife at Oakdale Cemetery in Paden, Oklahoma.
