1937 - 2014

Ronald Roy "Ron" VanSteenwyk of Agra was born August 17, 1937 in Hennepin County, Minnesota and died Friday February 7, 2014 in Midwest City at the age of 76 years.
Mr. VanSteenwyk was the son of Norma Anna Arneson and Gilbert Alexander VanSteenwyk.
He married Eileen Marie Bishop on April 15, 1982 in Rotorua, New Zealand.
He was a graduate of Robbinsdale, Minnesota High School and a 1959 graduate of the University of Minnesota. He would tell you he majored in football, but he actually majored in medical pharmacology.
His careers comprised commercial pilot, heavy equipment operator, professional wrestler, police officer and firearms instructor, truck driver, and rancher. Among his hobbies were welding, spending time with his family, listening to bluegrass music, playing steel guitar, exploring American history and studying his Bible.
He was an active member of his church and the Masonic fraternity, to include Scottish and York Rites, Shriners, and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Ron especially enjoyed his years as a cattle rancher in Agra.
Preceding him in death were his parents and baby niece, Leslie Joan Day.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen, of the home; his sons J. R. {Janet} Hecht; Joshua {Melissa}; Caleb {Julia}; daughters Abigail, Bonnie and Connie; and grandchildren Jordan, Alexander and Sadie. He is also survived by his brother Gilbert {Delores} of Brainerd, Minnesota; sisters DawnRae {John} Day of Phoenix, Arizona; and Ginger Moberg of Plymouth, Minnesota; five nephews: Scott, Steven, Michael, Richard and David; two nieces: Stacy and Kelly, and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at First Baptist Church of Agra, 415 Roosevelt St., Agra, Oklahoma on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Roger Shaw officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alliance Defending Freedom or Shriners' Hospitals.
