AILEEN GENEVA SMITH STUEWE
1931 - 2016


Aileen Geneva Adam Smith Stuewe was born May 31, 1931 in Abilene, Kansas to Wilbur Leon Adam and Sylvia Mabel Winslow Adam.
Geneva passed away April 21, 2016 in Prague, Oklahoma at the age of 84.
She graduated from Abilene High School in 1949 and soon after went to work for the State of Kansas in Topeka for one year and then to Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she worked until moving to Alma, Kansas in 1968.
Her first marriage to Robert E. Smith ended in divorce. To that union two sons were born in 1952 and 1956.
She married Robert F. Stuewe on October 28, 1967 and the family grew by a stepson and two stepdaughters.
Geneva went to work with her husband at the Signal-Enterprise, a weekly newspaper in Alma, until they retired and sold the newspaper.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Past Matron of The Order of Eastern Star, Past President of the Tau Kappa Chapter and National President of Phi Tau Omega Sorority, American Aux. She had been a member of VFW Aux., Alma Chamber of Commerce and the Wichita Airstream Club.
Geneva loved all types of craft work especially crocheting, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading and helping others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Wilbur "Lee" Adam, Albert Adam and Fred Adam; sister, Loretta Lynn; stepdaughter, Robin Deiter; son-in-law, Steve Deiter; step son-in-law, William "Bill" Alberty; step grandson, Brant Lee Alberty and great granddaughter, Rhylynne Jean Holmes.
She is survived by two sons, Scott R. Smith and Gena of Prague, Oklahoma; Kirk B. Smith and Michele of Reno, Nevada, stepdaughter, Bobbie Jo Alberty of Inola, Oklahoma, stepson, Ronald Stuewe and Patty of Alma, Kansas, sister, Lorena B. McVay of Lubbock, Texas, fifteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the United Methodist Church, 627 Missouri, Alma, Kansas 66401.
A graveside inurnment will be held June 4, 2016 at the Alma Cemetery in Alma, Kansas at 10:00 a.m.
