RUSSELL DWAYNE ROOF
1922 - 2015


Russell Dwayne Roof, age 93, a Tryon resident, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 at his home in Tryon, Oklahoma.
Russell was born on June 19, 1922 in Tryon, Oklahoma to the late Earl and Ila Smith Roof.
He grew up on the farm and attended school in Tryon, graduating from Tryon High School in1940 and continued his education, attending Oklahoma A&M for three years.
Russell served in the United States Army in World War II in Normandy, Rhineland, France, Central Europe and Battle of the Bulge. After being honorably discharged in 1945, Russell went to work for Tinker Air Force base as a missile technician for 32 years before retiring.
He enjoyed raising cattle and farming, he was a member of the CO-OP, and proud to be an alumnus of Tryon High School.
Russell is survived by his nieces, Debra Ann Robinson of Missouri and Pamela Sue Williams of Kansas; cousin Robert Roof and wife Nila of Edmond, Oklahoma and numerous friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Ila Roof and one sister, Dejah Thores Murray.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at the Chapel of Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Perkins, Oklahoma. Services are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Perkins, Oklahoma.
