CECIL EUGENE McBRIDE
1934 - 2009


Cecil Eugene "Gene" McBride, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at his home in Carney at the age of 74 years.
The son of the late Elva E. and Bessie O'Kelley McBride, Cecil was born on October 23, 1934, in Schlegel, and was reared and educated in the Cushing area.
He entered the United States Army in 1955 and following his honorable discharge had worked for Gibble Oil Company for several years, prior to going into business for himself, the McBride service station equipment and repairs.
He was united in marriage to Colleen Stephens on January 6, 1966, in Olive, and the couple had lived in this area until 1977 when they moved to Carney.
Cecil was the leader and bass player for the Driftwood Band for many years. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving include his wife of over 43 years, Colleen, of the home; three sons and one godson, Larry McBride and his wife, Terri, of Cushing; Mark McBride of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania; David Hunt of Carney; and Cary Cox and his wife, Kendra, of Stillwater; one sister, Willa Collie of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, Wesley Sam, Larry McBride, Chris Hunt, Brittany Hunt, Casey McBride, Melissa McBride, Jessica Holmes and Zayne Hunt; ten great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Norma McBride of Parkland; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie McBride Sam; one grandson, Chad Eugene Sam; and one brother, Cleon McBride.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Carney Cemetery with the Rev. Darrel Louden, with the Assembly of God Church in Carney, officiating.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.
