GARY FRANKLIN LEKAN
1950 - 2010

Gary Franklin Lekan was born on August 19, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away February, 19, 2010.
He was 59 years old having lived at Edmond Mansions, an independent living center that took great care of him.
Gary was very ill so this did not come as a surprise though we are deeply saddened.
Gary had many complications from the Vietnam war. His Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome grew worse in the last couple of years. He also had diabetes that seemed to go out of control as well as other medical problems. It is of comfort to know that Gary hurts no more.
Gary served three tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Army.
He later graduated from Southwestern College of Ministries with a degree in Theology and went on the get his Masters degree from the University of Oklahoma. He ran a large homeless shelter in Oklahoma City that helped with giving them food and clothes. The shelter did a great deal to help find people jobs and they gave them the ability to live normal lives.
Gary also received a letter of appreciation from President Ronald Reagan for his work with the homeless.
Gary is survived by his mother, Ruth Prehn of Lynn Haven, Florida; siblings, Bob and Pat Lekan of Trotwood, Ohio; John and Mary Brewington of Wellston, Oklahoma; and six nieces and nephews.
Gary will be missed by many people who are comforted knowing that he is finally home and has found the peace that he longed for in our Father's eternal arms.
