LILA MAXINE HOWE
1929 - 2016


Lila Maxine Frazier Howe entered the Holy presence on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at her home in Meeker, Oklahoma at the age of 86.
Maxine, the name she preferred, was born on August 8, 1929 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to parents Oliver Delbert and Eva Louise Gasaway Frazier.
Her education began in Ponca City Elementary Schools, then onto Harding Junior High and Classen High School where Maxine was on the Archery Team. She received her high school diploma in Meeker, Oklahoma, May 1948 after the Frazier family relocated when purchasing a dairy farm just east of Meeker.
Then the week following her high school graduation, Maxine married Hulen Riley Howe at her parent's home on May 22, 1948. She was a devoted wife, life partner, and mother.
Maxine and Hulen celebrated their sixty-fourth wedding anniversary before Hulen's passing in 2013.
Mrs. Howe worked in the Oklahoma State Home Economics Department during the 1950's and 60's then moved to Burden, South Haven, and Howard, Kansas before returning to Meeker and becoming a member of the First United Methodist Church.
In the late '70's and early '80's Maxine sold real estate and became a real estate broker before retiring in 1991.
She spent her last twenty-five years of retirement enjoying her family life, children, grandchildren, and traveling to South Texas to reside as a “Winter Texan.”
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hulen Riley Howe, Sr.; son, Dr. Hulen "Bud" Riley Howe, Jr.; parents, Oliver Delbert and Eva Louise Gasaway Frazier; sisters, Violet Hodges, Evelyn Thompson and Shirley Ann Frazier; nieces, Norma Hodges Neller and Stephanie Doyon., Gerald Howe, Jr., Harland Hodges and William Thompson {brother-in-laws}.
Relatives left to cherish her memories are Mark Frazier Howe and Becky Howe {son and daughter-in-law}, Renee Lynne Bartos {daughter-in-law}, Candice Leigh and Tyrone Hart and Brett Anthony Conrad Howe {grandchildren}, Lenna Thompson Cornish, Sherilynn Maxine Thompson Hiatt, Billie Thompson Pauline Wiedeman and Barbara Hammer, Jalyn Davison, David Howe, Brent Howe, Sharon Ruth Tabb and Charles Lee Howe {all nieces and nephews}, Charles Howe, Sr. {brother-in-law}; in addition to many great-nieces and nephews; as well as special friends Jessica Taber and Ellen Ward.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Meeker.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date.
