LOUISE ETHRIDGE
1926 - 2011
Louise Vickrey Ethridge went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on December 6, 2011 after a brief illness.
She was born in Stroud, Oklahoma on December 25, 1926 and lived her entire life in Stroud as a successful homemaker, mother, teacher, rancher and businesswoman.
She was a founding member of the Maranatha Christian Center in Stroud.
One of Louise's greatest joys was the time she regularly shared with her twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as "GG".
As a young adult, Louise taught grade school in a one room school house near Stroud. She also worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas Company for twenty four years as a customer service representative. Over the past nineteen years, Louise served as a a board member for Central Rural Electric Company {CREC} and recently retired from her position in May 2011. In addition, she represented Stroud and Lincoln County in numerous leadership roles including the County Health Board, American Legion, Farm Services Agency Board of Directors, and was honored by the Future Farmers of America {FFA} for her support.
Louise was dearly loved by all her family and friends and was an amazing role model to everyone who knew her.
Her love for Jesus Christ was demonstrated by her charity and love for other people. As Louise reminded us the night before she left - - "I will see you on the other side!"
She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Ethridge, Stroud Oklahoma; parents, Bill and Opal Vickrey, Stroud, Oklahoma; and a brother, Ray Vickrey, also of Stroud.
Louise is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Billie and Larry Kramer, Canon City, Colorado; and her children, Don and Mary Ann Ethridge of Cushing, Oklahoma; Sherry and Bob Ellis of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; Randy and Kay Ethridge of Stroud, Oklahoma; and Mary Gail and Gill Cain of Edmond, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at the Maranatha Christian Church in Stroud, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2011 with Randy Ethridge and LaRoi Woods officiating.
Burial will be in the Stroud Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Stroud, Oklahoma.
