JOSEPH EDWARD ESTES
1960 - 2016


Joseph Edward Estes “Indian Joe” passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at his home in Cushing, Oklahoma at the age of 56.
Joe was born on September 9, 1960 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Jess and Mary Estes.
He was raised by Aaron Dean and Mary Lee Brown. They lived in Cushing, Oklahoma where he attended Cushing High School. He also attended Meridian Vo-Tech in Stillwater, Oklahoma and Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklhoma.
Joe met the love of his life and soul mate, Marry Rhodd in 1978 and married her in 1993. Joe and Mary lived in Cushing, and have three children. Joe’s career was being a mechanic since the age of 4. He was a “Jack of all trades” and “honey dipper”.
He was employed by his second family, at Tubby Houston’s Asphalt of Cushing for most of his life. He also worked for Curtis Sam’s Body Shop in Cushing for many years. Joe’s last job was for his tribe. He was building and fixing all kinds of things, which he loved, at Sac and Fox Nation in Stroud. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and his hobby of working on classic cars and trucks.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, Aaron Dean Brown, his grandparents, Raymond and Marie Tyner, and one brother, Cody Ray Tyner.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Mary Estes, two daughters, Brandy Slick of Prague and Laura Lee Estes of Cushing, one son of the home, Taylor Edward Estes, his mother, Mary Brown of Cushing and his adopted father, Jamie Noble of Stroud. Joe is also survived by his five grandchildren, granddaughters, Twana Gibson and Javenlynn Estes Wulf, grandsons, Jonathan Hernadez, Landon Estes, Nicholas Pool and one great-grandson, Gabriel Hilton. Joe is also survived by three sisters, two brothers, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, and other family and many many friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Sac & Fox Nation Cemetery. Viewing will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at the Sac & Fox Nation Community Center.
