Gary Franklin Lewis, 69, a longtime resident of Prague, Oklahoma, passed away at home on August 26, 2020. Gary was born on October 18, 1950 in Miami, Oklahoma to Arthur Franklin and Irene Oletta (Ruggles) Lewis. He grew up in Narcissa, Oklahoma. Gary married Francine Lewis on September 6, 1980 and they were married for almost 39 years until her passing in 2019. Gary was “Papa Gary” to his only grandchild, his granddaughter, Emma.

Gary was a very intelligent man, and after graduating from Drumright High School, he went on to further his education in woodworking school. He used his woodworking knowledge to build and sell birdhouses in the Prague community. He also enjoyed taking care of the hummingbirds who made their residence in the birdhouses that he built. Gary also enjoyed fishing and was interested in horses.

Gary could often be seen cruising around Prague on his lawnmower, or, as he called it, his “Hot Rod”.

Gary was a member of Pleasant Home Baptist Church.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Francine Lewis; his parents, Arthur and Irene Lewis; and his mother-in-law, Barbara Neely.

Those left to cherish Gary’s memory are his son, David Lewis; a granddaughter, Emma Caraker; a sister, Dorothy Williams; his father-in-law, David Neely; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy and Colette Neely and their children, Calen, Ciera, Holden, and Hazel Neely; a brother-in law, David Neely and his wife Robyn; brother-in-law, Johnny Lewis; brother-in-law, Richard Brooks and a sister-in-law, Edna Lewis; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a multitude of other extended family members and friends.
