Monte Levi Wilson, Sr.

wilson-ml-sr

December 7, 1950 - February 7, 2026

Monte Levi Wilson, Sr. was born December 7, 1950, in Tulsa to Billy and Bobba (Mattheyer) Wilson. He passed away on February 7, 2026, in Oklahoma City at the age of seventy-five.

Monte was the oldest of five children, often helping care for his younger siblings. He married Debra Tipton in 1971, and together they raised their three children. At a young age he was an electrician, later working as a chemist in the oil refinery business, retiring following a 25-year career.

Monte enjoyed watching his children and later his grand and even great-grandchildren play sports. He did not know a stranger and had a great sense of humor. Monte was a giving man who was generous to a fault. He loved his children, never missing any event in their lives. This trait continued only strengthening with his grand and great-grandchildren.

Monte was preceded in death by his parents, Billy and Bobba Wilson; wife of nearly 41 years, Debra Wilson; and his son, Levi Wilson. Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Dowdy and her husband Jason of Stroud, Bethani Byford and her husband Ryan of Davenport; six grandchildren, Mollee, Koree, Houston, Cydnie, Maloree, and Chase; five great-grandchildren, Levi, Turner, Tyson, Kolsen, Margot and one more on the way; siblings, Johnny Miller and wife Joan, Billy Wilson and wife Melody, Bob Wilson and wife Darline, Ricky Wilson and wife Beth; sister-in-law, Melissa Stambaugh and her husband Kelly; multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins, many of whom he was very close to, along with a host of friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Davenport with interment following in the Davenport Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
