Billy Warden Tipton was born on February 15, 1931, in Davenport, Oklahoma, to Hager and Bertha (Niccum) Tipton. He passed away on April 7, 2026, in Meeker, Oklahoma, at the age of 95.
Billy was raised in Davenport, where he attended school and graduated with the Class of 1949. He was proud to be a Davenport alumnus and took great pride in his hometown throughout his life. He married Geraldine (Doxsie), and early in their marriage, he learned the value of listening to her, a lesson that served him well throughout their 63 years together. They built a life centered on family while raising their two sons.
Billy took great pride in his work as an oilman and cattleman. His sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. Visiting with family and friends was one of his greatest joys, and he never missed an opportunity for a good conversation. He also had a special place in his heart for animals and took great care of them, especially his dogs.
Preceding Billy in death are his parents, Hager and Bertha Tipton; his wife, Geraldine Tipton; and his daughters-in-law, Janice L. Tipton and Morene Tipton.
Billy is survived by his sons, Keith Tipton of Chandler and Steve Tipton and Brenda of Prague; three grandchildren, including Jerade Tipton and Brandon Tipton, with whom he shared a special bond; as well as other relatives and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Davenport, with interment to follow at Davenport Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
