Danny Joe Hodge

Danny Joe Hodge was born February 9, 1952 in Chandler to Chester and Pearl (Jackson) Hodge. He passed away January 21, 2021 in Shawnee at the age of 68.

Danny grew up in Davenport where he graduated high school with the class of 1970. He was a star catcher on the baseball team and was offered a position to play in the major leagues which he turned down to join the United States Air Force. He raised exotic birds and other animals. Danny enjoyed fishing with his daughters, gardening, watching his granddaughter play softball, and especially enjoyed chocolate and Dr Pepper. One of his treasured past-times was watching fish in his aquarium with his wife, Janice. Danny loved his poodle which was affectionately named, Poodle.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Pearl Hodge, brothers, Patrick Hodge, Chester Dale Hodge; sister, Dana Hodge. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Janice (Patterson) Hodge of the home; children, Daniel Wakley and wife Joyce of Yale, Dana Campbell and husband Jason of Enid, Jenny Thompson and husband Billy of Enid, Shawna Stepin and husband Vladimir of California, Casie Scott and husband Robert of Chandler, Dayon Leonard of Chandler; (15) grandchildren, (1) great-grandchild, Preston Hodge, Jr.; brother, James Hodge and wife Chris of Davenport; sister-in-law, Glenda Hodge of Cushing; along with other family and friends.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at the Davenport First Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Mitchell officiating and interment following in the Davenport Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
