Carolyn Ann Jezek Blackburn was born in Prague, OK on August 14, 1934 and departed this life on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at the age of 91. Carolyn, the daughter of Frank and Lizzie (Pospisil) Jezek, grew up in Prague and was a resident until her college years. Carolyn was proud to have been crowned Kolache Queen in May 1952 for the Golden Anniversary Kolache Festival which was held to celebrate Prague's 50th birthday.
Carolyn married the love of her life, James Sexton Blackburn, on January 24, 1959; they were married for almost 54 years. Carolyn was a faithful member of New Life in Christ Lutheran Church in Duncanville, TX for over 40 years. She received a Secretarial Certificate from the University of Oklahoma, and worked in administrative office jobs both before and after marriage. She was proud to have worked more than 20 years at, and retired from, Dillard's Department Store. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a social butterfly who found joy in hosting and entertaining friends and family for holidays and get togethers at her home. She was an avid lover of music, dancing, travel and all things Ireland. Carolyn lived out the last two years of her life in San Antonio, TX and enjoyed remembering and telling stories about her life growing up in Prague, her parents' grocery store, and helping her father make (and drink) wine.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband James Blackburn; brother and sister-in-law James and Charlene (Kahanek) Jezek; niece Karey Jezek Reno. Carolyn is survived by her daughter Laura Blackburn of San Antonio, TX; son Mark Blackburn (Kelly) of Waxahachie, TX; daughter Joyce Blackburn Ginn (Chad) of Choudrant, LA; five grandchildren, Rachelle Lefever (Matt), Matthew Long (Jessica), Henry Blackburn, Grayson Long, and Audrey Blackburn (Ryan); great-grandchildren Erik Long, Lucah Long, and Alessandra Long; niece Kay Jezek Rider; and numerous other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Czech Cemetery, 10469 S. Highway 99, Prague, OK 74864.
