Jack Oliver Brown, 81, of Newcastle, died Monday, October 13, 2014, at his home. The son of George Cooper Brown and Mary Nettie (Dean) Brown, he was born February 23, 1933 in Rose, Oklahoma.

Jack served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked in the Oklahoma City Public School system from 1961 to 1976 teaching in the elementary grade levels and also middle school. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and loved being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bill Brown and George Brown, Jr.; and two sisters, Betty Costello and Mary Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Helen Brown, of Newcastle; one daughter, Gwendolyn Cribbs and her husband, Michael, of Tennessee; one son, Byron Brown and his wife, Cindy, of Newcastle; five grandchildren, Brandon Brown of McAlester, Dawnyelle Hyde and her husband, John, of Oklahoma City, Felicia Weatherford and her husband, Travis, of Tennessee, Laura Collins and her husband, Matt, of Tennessee, and Mechelle Price and her husband, Vic, of Georgia; twelve great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Jerry Brown and his wife, Bobbi, of Durant; two sisters, Helen Kuykendall and her husband, Alvin, of Texas and Pauline Brown of Colorado; one sister-in-law, Ruth Brown of Octavia; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard. Burial will be at 4:00 P.M., Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Octavia Cemetery in Octavia, Oklahoma.
