Burkhart Family Funeral Homes
Antlers, OK
(permission granted)

Thelma was born to John W. and Mary Fields on July 30, 1925. She grew up in Big Cedar, Oklahoma, on the Kiamichi River. She attended school at Big Cedar, Pine Valley, and Whitesboro. She married and lived in France, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin, California, and Missouri. Eventually she returned to the "old homestead', and what she called "the prettiest place on Earth". Thelma had quite the green thumb. She always had a garden and canned her own vegetables. She also enjoyed reading, and also wrote stories of her childhood. Her beloved grandchildren brought her great joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, all of her 10 siblings, and her husband Joseph J. Carpenetti.

Thelma left this world and her beloved Big Cedar, Oklahoma, to be with her Lord Jesus on December 2, 2019. She died at home after a short illness, under the watchful care of the wonderful nurses and staff of Heart of Hospice, with her daughter Patt and son-in-law Marty by her side.

She is survived by her daughters Mary Ann Peterson and Dina Benton, Patt Snow and her husband Marty of Butler, Missouri; son James Schumaker and his wife Darlene, and their daughters Linda, Becky, and Sara; grandson Matt Snow & wife Nikki of Omaha, Nebraska, and their children Shay, Mia, and Tommy; granddaughter Jennifer Snow Yates & husband Brent, of Garland, Texas, and their daughter Tatum; grandson Michael Snow & wife Breanne of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and their sons Braxton and J.T.; step-daughter Anna Camphouse and family, and step-son Joe Carpenetti, Jr., wife Evi, of Salinas, California, and their sons Stefan and Jeffrey. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom she enjoyed visiting with.

Graveside Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 5th, 2019 at New Home Cemetery in Big Cedar, Oklahoma with friend and pastor Holly Rayburn officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service of Talihina.
