William D "Tex" Allen

Mr. William D (Tex) Allen, 71, of Whitesboro passed away Saturday, February 7th, 2009 at Choctaw Nation Health Care Center, Talihina, Oklahoma 

William was born in Paducah, Texas on August 29, 1937, the son of the late Jesse V. and Lela Pearl (Brooks) Allen. 

He owned a TV repair shop in Colorado Springs and later he worked as a fire investigator for Colorado Springs for 31 years. He was chosen to teach arson investigation classes in Taiwan. He was one of only two selected from the United States for this position. After retiring he and his family moved to their ranch in Whitesboro. He served on the Whitesboro Volunteer Fire Department for 9 years and was a board member for 6 years.He also served on the Ellicott School Board of Directors. He served as the El Paso County Fair Director for El Paso County Colorado. He was a member of the Cattleman's Association, Fountain Roping and Riding Club, Ellicott Roping and Riding Club and Talihina Roundup Club. 
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding horses and spending time with his grandchildren. 
He was the husband of Elizabeth (Hermes) Allen. They were married June 8, 1958 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. 

William is survived by his wife; Liz of the home, two daughters; Teresa Bailey of Ellicott, Colorado, Sandy Silkwood of Whitesboro, Oklahoma, a son,William D. Allen,Jr. of Rifle,Colorado; grandchildren; Justin Powell, Dusty and Jennifer Tholl, Tamara Bailey, Jeremy Potts, Sassy Newell, Matthew Hansen, Taylor Allen and Daniel Hughlett. Great grandchildren; Jake Powell, Eolis Powell, Matthew Tholl and Cassidy Tholl and a step great granddaughter; Angela Franks. William is also survived by three brothers; Louie Allen of Watson, Oklahoma, Melvin and Vera Allen of Cottonwood, California and Glenn Allen of Spokane, Washington, three sisters; Joyce Campbell of Matador, Texas, Edna and Garland Stutzman of Amarillo, Texas, and Jonnye Riggan and Joe Wait of Castle Rock, Colorado. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Elizabeth Ann Allen, grandson; Tony Stoknes, brother; Truman Allen, sister; LaVenia Searcy. 

Pallbearers for the service will be Bill Allen, Justin Powell, Dusty Tholl, Jeremy Potts, Matthew Hansen, Jake Powell, Tammie Bailey, Sassy Newell and Daniel Hughlett. 

Graveside services will be held Friday, February 13, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Allen's Eagle Crest Ranch in Whitesboro, Oklahoma with Rev. Ron Brannon officiating.

Interment under the direction of Talihina Funeral Home, Talihina, Oklahoma.
