Marilyn Ruth Oakes, 60, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 in Poteau.
She was born July 25, 1950 in Fresno, Calif. She was a custodian at Poteau Public Schools.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Lee Oakes; a brother, Bruce Couch; and her parents, Bill and Nettie (Collins) Couch.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Oakes, of the home; a daughter, Tracy Acton, of Arkoma; a son, Randy Oakes, of Poteau; three grandchildren, Dayne Young, Kasi Reese, and Matthew Eidschun; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Peggy Bell, of Poteau, Linda Himes, of Poteau, Tammy Duncan, of Monroe; one brother, Terry Couch of Poteau; numerous other relatives, friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted December 30 at 2 p.m. at Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with Rev. Jimmy D. Cook officiating.

Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Poteau. Pallbearers will be Terry Couch, Randy Oakes, Dayne Young, Matthew Eidschun, Dustin Bell, and Danny Gullick.

The family will be at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday evening to visit with family and friends.

Evans and Miller Funeral Home, Poteau, is in charge of arrangements.
