Alma M. Barnes, 86, of Poteau died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, in Poteau.

Alma was born May 23, 1926, in Monroe to Frank and Irene (Terry) Riggs. She was a homemaker. Alma was a lifelong resident of Poteau.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James.

Survivors include daughters, Lavanna Akins of Benton, Ark., Kasey Barnes of Dallas, Brenda Jackson of Poteau, Verna Cook of Springdale, Ark., Susan Flowers of Tulsa; sister, Lola Grimes of Monroe; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and loved ones.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in Evans Chapel of Memories, Poteau, with Rev. Bob Garrett officiating.

Burial will be in Monroe Cemetery , Monroe, under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home.
