Frank M. Hogan

Frank M. Hogan, 79, of Poteau, was born Aug. 2, 1922, in Panama. He passed away Monday, May 20, 2002, at Poteau.
He was a teacher who taught thousands of children during his 43 years in the classroom. He was an elementary principal in Poteau and a high school principal, then superintendent at Heavener. He taught at Fairview, Howe, Poteau, Heavener and Wilburton. He was a professor of history at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton and attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. He did graduate work at Oklahoma University in Norman and post graduate work in Oxford, England. He was a Golden Glove boxer. He was a veteran of both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist faith and was also a Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Willie Jo Wright.
Survivors include his wife Lucille of the home; two sons, David Hogan of Spiro and Tim Hogan of Hugo; one brother, Ray Hogan of Mangum; one sister, Juanita Andersen of Panama; five grandchildren, Ashley Cochran, Angel Flanagan, Michael Hogan, Eric Hogan and David Hogan II; and one great-grandchild, Jillian Cochran.
Services will be conducted Wednesday, May 22 at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Poteau with the Rev. Dale Rogers officiating.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Panama.
Pallbearers will be Audrey Balentine, Frank Nunley, David Hogan II, Devin Cochran, Jason Flanagan and Troy Howerton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
