Stanley McCasland, 85, of Wilburton, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 in Wilburton.
 

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at the Jones Harkins Funeral Home.
 

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the P.J. Smith Auditorium, Wilburton, Oklahoma with Troy Bullard officiating.

The burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Bullard, Marty Workman, Stanley Joe Guazdausky, Mikey Guazdausky, Coury Hampton, Mike Guazdausky, and Logan Satterfield.Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Arterburn, Weldon Morgan, John B. Hayes, Dr. Frank Phelps, Jim Elliott, Larry Ross, Duane Jeffrey, Wayne Lucas, Ross Roye, Freddie Shaw, Bob Thompson, Gary Batton and his great grandchildren: Lincoln, Caston, Carter, Charli, Dixie, Maggie, Allie, Riley, and Kevin.

Stanley was born on September 4, 1937 in Hartshorne, Oklahoma to Guy McCasland and Florence (Fry) McCasland. He married Sue Roye on March 26, 1959 in Wilburton.

Stan graduated from Wilburton High School with the Class of 1956. In 2014 he was inducted into the WHS Athletic Hall of Fame for his contributions and achievements on the football field. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilburton and a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

After a brief time away from Wilburton, Stan and Sue moved back and opened the first convenience store in the area in 1963. They operated The Handy Stop convenience stores until 1985. Stan also owned and operated MacHill Construction Company with his partner Don Hill of Ada, OK as a general contractor building residential homes and commercial properties until his retirement in 2010. MacHill Construction built many homes for the members of the Choctaw Nation in and around Wilburton as well as building the Wilburton High School Gymnasium.

Stan loved his family, athletics, and rodeo. He especially enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids compete. He spent many hours and many miles on the road supporting and encouraging his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Guy McCasland and Florence (Fry) McCasland; his son: Stanley Kevin McCasland; his great grandson: J.M. White; his brother: Kenny McCasland; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Fred Roye and Grace (Jackson) Roye; and his uncle and aunt: Alvin and Helen Fry.

Stan is survived by his wife of 64 years: Sue McCasland of the home; his daughters: Penni McCasland of Wilburton, and Julie Guazdausky and husband, Mike of Wilburton; his grandchildren: Jeremy Bullard and wife, Joline of Wilburton, Mindy Hampton and husband, Coury of Amarillo, TX, Marty Workman and wife, Blair of Stigler, Stanley Joe Guazdausky and wife, Cassie of Wilburton, Madelyn Satterfield and husband, Logan of Stigler, and Mikey Guazdausky and Taylor Norris of Wilburton; his great grandchildren: Charli Robbins, Dixie Bullard, Lincoln White, Caston Workman, Carter Workman, Maggie Cochran, Riley Guazdausky, Kevin Guazdausky, and Allie Satterfield; along with other family and friends.
