Mass of Christian burial for Servey Alonzo was held Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Hobart at 10 a.m. Burial followed in Roosevelt Cemetery under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart.

Servey "Vey" C Alonzo, a resident of Yarmouth, Maine, passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside early Friday morning, May 30, 2014, in Portland, Maine.

He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and grew up in Roosevelt, Oklahoma, graduating from Roosevelt High School where he set a school record by pitching the first no-hitter in Rough Rider baseball history. While in the United States Navy, Vey served five tours in the Vietnam War as well as time spent in Korea, serving on board the USS Midway, USS Lexington and USS Donald B. Beary and earned a Presidential Unit citation. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he earned his Bachelor's degree in accounting from the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico.

In later life, he enjoyed traveling with his loving wife Linda, often in their RV, exploring as far as California all the way to Nova Scotia. They loved visiting with their abundant family and friends in states such as New Mexico, Arizona, Florida, Maine and Oklahoma. They also enjoyed the occasional cruise with family members as well. They lived briefly in New Mexico and Florida before settling in Maine.

Preceding him in death were his parents Adrian Alonzo and Cecilia Segura Alonzo; his brothers Michael and Adrian Alonzo; and sisters Dora and Marina Alonzo.

Survivors include his wife Linda Innes Strout Alonzo; sister Lydia Alonzo of Flagstaff AZ; brothers Domingo , Phoenix, AZ & Paul Alonzo ,Mexico; his daughter Rebecca Gomez and husband Frank Gomez, Albuquerque, NM; his sons Ricardo Alonzo ,Jacksonville, Florida, Serbi Alonzo ,Albuquerque, NM, and Romeo Alonzo , Albuquerque, NM; stepdaughters Carrie Nason and husband Clint ,North Yarmouth, ME, Melissa Walsh Innes and husband Shawn Walsh ,Yarmouth, ME and Michelle Turgeon and husband Matt Turgeon, Durham, ME.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Nina Gomez, Frankie Gomez, Harley-Quinn Alonzo, & Leonardo Alonzo; step grandchildren Joshua Nason, Jacob Nason, Molly Walsh, Clare Walsh, Sophie Walsh, Devon Turgeon & Dominik Turgeon; his great grandchildren Monet Lucero, Autumn Lucero, and Frankie Gomez III.
