Carol Jane Huckleberry Of Apache, Oklahoma

Was born March 8, 1943 in Lawton, OK to Murray and Massalena (Ahtone) Tonepahhote. She passed away September 14th in Norman, OK at the age of 73.

A member of the Kiowa Tribe, Carol was very active in keeping her Native American traditions alive. She spoke the Kiowa language fluently, loved listening and singing Kiowa tribal hymns, and was proficient at beadwork. Carol also enjoyed going to the Ft. Sill-Apache Tribal Complex on a daily basis where she participated in many of their community programs.

Carol married William Allen “Billy” Huckleberry on December 1, 1975 in Anadarko, he preceded her in death on February 3, 1998. She was a member of the Apache Reformed Church. She enjoyed working puzzles, coloring in her adult coloring books, collecting jewelry, shopping and going out. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by:

Jessica and husband, Bradley Wright Cache, OK

8 great-grandchildren-
Gavin Byrd, Kylee Jean Maldonado, Kendyl Rae Maldonado, Bentlee Wright, Bryson Wright, Becklee Wright, Addison Wright, Brayden Wright

1 sister-
Teresa Tonepahhote-Edmonds Anadarko, OK

A prayer service will be held Monday, September 19th at 7:00 P.M. at the Apache Reformed Church.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 20th at 2:00 P.M. at the Rainy Mountain Kiowa Indian Baptist Church near Mountain View, OK, with Pastor Kerry Glasgow officiating. Burial will follow at the New Rainy Mountain Indian Mission Cemetery under the direction of Crews Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help with funeral expenses may be sent to Liberty Bank.
