George W. Lindsey

George W. Lindsey, 95, Mooreland, and former Gotebo resident, passed away in Overland Park, Kan., on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007. He was born Oct. 10, 1912, in Hollister to Sylvester Bert and Nora Mae (Gold) Lindsey. He grew up in Gotebo and graduated from Gotebo High School. He graduated from Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell. George was an outstanding student and was listed in the Who's Who in the American College and Universities 1936 issue. He then married Teddy Howard. He lived in California during the war. He taught FFA and coached for many years at Port, Okla., and a few years at Caddo. George married Zelma Beck in September, 1955 and she preceded him in death. In 1956, he moved to Mooreland. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mooreland and was a 32 degree Mason, Grand Lodge, Guthrie.

Survivors include a son, Daryle Lindsey, Seven Points, Texas; daughters Georgiana Corley and husband, Patrick, Shawnee, Kan., Bonnie Leach and husband, Richard, Mutual; 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brothers Clarence Obie Lindsey, Gotebo, Marvin "Bolivar" Lindsey and wife, Loretta, Porter; sisters, Bertie Jean Barkley, Midwest City, Noami Sexton, Oklahoma City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Zelma, daughter, Kaye and seven brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, at Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart.

Masonic Rites will be given by Hobart Masonic Lodge.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Hobart.
