Graveside: 2:00 PM Friday, July 24th, 2015, Hobart Rose Cemetery Graveside service for Tommy Ray Buchanan, 92, Hobart, OK will be at the Hobart Rose Cemetery, Hobart, OK on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Jim Riley officiating under the direction of Greer Funeral Home, Mangum, OK.

Mr. Buchanan passed away on July 20, 2015 at Hobart Nursing and Rehab in Hobart, OK.

Tommy Ray Buchanan was born to Cecil and Opal (Goodman) Buchanan in Mangum, Oklahoma on March 20, 1923. He graduated from Mangum High School in 1941, after school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in WWII for the 89th Infantry. After the service he married Claudine Dodson and they had a child, Connie Kay. He operated a filling station in Key West, Florida for several years until he moved back to Mangum. He later married Fern Vaughn in Memphis, Tennessee on July 17, 1984. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Mangum. Tom enjoyed fishing, buying and selling at flea markets and meeting people, never meeting a stranger. He visited the Hobart nursing home everyday to visit his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Fern.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Kay Ard of Hobart; two grandsons, Jim Ard and wife Sharon of Weatherford and Tim Ard of Hobart; a granddaughter, Joely and husband Todd Duff of Hobart; 6 great grandchildren, Spencer Ard, Hagan Ard, Conner Ard, Jacy Duff, Kane Duff and Rett Duff and many other relatives and friends.
