Dr. George A. Reimer

Dr. George A. Reimer was born April 1, 1904 on the Reimer homestead near Corn, Oklahoma Territory to Margaret and Abraham C. Reimer and passed away March 21, 1998 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 20 days.

Dr. Reimer graduated from Carver Chiropractic College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1926.

He married Alma Amanda Rollins on September 30, 1928 in Gotebo, Oklahoma.

They lived in Gotebo and after noticing an article in the Baptist Messenger Magazine for the need of a doctor in Cheyenne, Oklahoma, moved to Cheyenne in 1933. He established his first office above the Cross Drug Store.

Dr. Reimer continued his practice until January 1922 when he retired after 65 years.

He was a charter member of the American Chiropractic Association of America. In 1971 he was appointed to the Oklahoma Chiropractic Board of Examiners where he served until 1978. In 1978 he was honored as Chiropractor of the Year and in 1987 was inducted into the Oklahoma Chiropractic Hall of Fame, the highest honor given to a Chiropractor in Oklahoma.

At the time of his death, Dr. Reimer was the oldest living licensed Chiropractor in the State of Oklahoma.

He was a member of the Cheyenne First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, son leader and Training Union director.

He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce and Cheyenne Masonic Lodge. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the Scottish Rite.

Dr. Reimer had served in several offices for the City of Cheyenne.

His parents; wife; one daughter, Patricia Lou; one grandson; one sister; and three brothers preceded him in death.

Dr. Reimer is survived by one daughter, Beverly Mogg of El Reno; one son, Rollin Dewayne Reimer of Stillwater; one brother, Nikolai Reimer of Reedley, California; three sisters, Ann Litke of Reedley, California; Esther Harder of Kingsburg, California; and Margie Leppke of Reedley, California; seven grandchildren, Glenna Beth and Dale Metzler, Jack and Shawn Mogg, Joe and Michele Mogg, Rolinda and Don Saunders, Rona and Larry Stewart, George and Joanie Reimer and David Reimer; seventeen great grandchildren; three step grandchildren, Jeremy and Katheryn Roberts, Corbyn and Cristi Roberts and Damon Roberts; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were Wednesday, March 25, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne, officiated by Aubrey Cowan and assisted by Terrell Rombert.

Interment was at the Gotebo Cemetery under the direction of the Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
