The funeral service for Welcome Grinstead, 89, of Canton will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill officiating.

Interment will follow in New Home Cemetery near Loyal, OK under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton.

Welcome Grinstead was born April 21, 1921 at Harmon, OK to William Arthur and Mary Susan (Malloy) Grinstead. He departed this life Sunday morning, July 18, 2010 at Watonga, OK. Welcome served our country during World War II in the Army. He worked for 35 years at U.S. Gypsum at Southard, OK. He was a member of Canton Christian Church and enjoyed fishing and camping. He married Florene Koen on July 19, 1939 at Watonga, OK.

Welcome was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years Florene; son Gerald Grinstead; two infant children; brother Wilford Grinstead and sister Ilean Maddox;

Survivors include 3 daughters, Gerry Harding and husband Bud of Waukomis, OK, Sharon Kay Roach and husband Jackie of Locust Grove, OK and Joan Murray and husband Frank of Canton, OK; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.
